Eric Green, M.D.
Dr. Green completed his residency at Michigan State University in Kalamazoo. He has a practice in general orthopedics with specialty interest in Sports Medicine and Surgery of the Knee and Shoulder. Dr. Green joined the clinic in 1991 and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is the only surgeon outside of the Twin Cities offering his patients ConforMIS custom knee implants.
Chad Griffith, M.D.
Dr. Griffith completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. He is a candidate member of the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association, and received the OREF Clinic Research Award in 2013 for his topic on “Improving Outcomes for Posterolateral Knee Injuries.” Dr. Griffith joined our clinic in 2015.
Timothy Hiesterman, D.O.
Dr. Hiesterman received his medical degree from the Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ and then went on to complete an Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship at Regions Hospital/University of Minnesota, St. Paul, MN. He joined our group in 2011.
Chad Holien, M.D.
Dr. Holien received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD and received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Holien joined our clinic in the summer of 2002 and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Holien is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Kevin Holton, D.P.M.
Dr. Holton received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine. He joined the practice in 1994 and is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association.
Matthew Hwang, M.D.
Dr. Hwang received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Hwang completed his orthopedic residency as well as his sports medicine fellowship at Tulane University, New Orleans, LA. He has been certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in Orthopaedic Surgery (2004) and Sports Medicine (2009). He joined our clinic in the summer of 2002 and is a member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine.
David Kaus, M.D.
Dr. Kaus received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota after obtaining a degree in Mechanical Engineering at M.I.T. His orthopedic training was at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He joined St. Cloud Orthopedics in 1989. He has a special interest in hip and knee replacement surgery utilizing muscle sparing techniques and does limited back and disc surgery.
Jason Kelly, M.D.
Dr. Kelly received his undergraduate degree from Concordia College in Moorhead before completing his medical degree at Creighton University School of Medicine. He is a member of the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has also volunteered his medical services to various communities over the last several years. Dr. Kelly joined our Spine Center staff in 2015.
Mitchell Kuhl, D.O.
Dr. Kuhl completed his undergraduate degree at Washington University, St. Louis, MO and his medical degree from Des Moines University – Osteopathic Medical Center. He also continued on with his residency training at Ohio University – St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH and completed a Trauma Fellowship at Orthopaedics Indianapolis – Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. He joined our group in 2007.
Stephen Mariash, D.P.M.
Dr. Mariash received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his residency in surgical reconstruction of the foot and ankle in 1991. He joined the practice in 1998 and is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Kevin McCann, D.P.M.
Dr. McCann received his doctor of podiatric medicine from Des Moines University and completed his residency at the Franciscan Foot and Ankle Institute in Federal Way, WA. He joined our clinic in 2012 and he is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association.
Trevor McIver, M.D., M.S.
Dr. McIver, who specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, received his undergraduate degree from the University of California Riverside. He then attended Georgetown University where he received his master’s and medical degrees. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery, and has completed sponsored and non-sponsored research on various spine-related orthopedic treatment techniques. Dr. McIver joined our Spine Center staff in 2015.
Steven Mulawka, M.D.
Dr. Mulawka received his Doctor of Medicine from Rush University in Chicago. His orthopedic practice deals with sports medicine and specializes in all knee and shoulder problems. Dr. Mulawka is a knee expert having completed over 5,000 total knee replacement surgeries. He is also a leader in minimally invasive knee replacement with computer assisted navigation (operative room GPS), along with robotic assisted knee replacement. Dr. Mulawka performs arthroscopic surgery utilizing laser technology and has been accepted in the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) since 1999 as a full member. The AANA is a professional medical association that is comprised of approximately 1,600 orthopedic surgeons who have completed post graduate training in the use of an arthroscope. These miniaturized instruments feature fiber optics, a lens system and solid state electronics allowing arthroscopic surgeons to diagnose and repair injuries or abnormalities inside human joints. Dr. Mulawka has been in practice at St. Cloud Orthopedics/Orthopedic Sports Center since 1985 and is board certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Andrew Mulder, M.D.
Dr. Mulder is a board-certified hip and knee surgeon specializing in primary and complex revision hip and knee replacement surgery. Understanding that each patient is unique, Dr. Mulder uses a personalized approach to hip and knee replacement surgery utilizing minimally-invasive muscle-sparing techniques, computer navigation, and robotic assistance when appropriate. He joined St. Cloud Orthopedics in 2013.
Michael Murphy, M.D.
Dr. Murphy has clinical expertise in arthroscopic knee, shoulder, and hip surgery, and has a special interest in knee and shoulder replacement. He is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine, and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Joseph P. Nessler, M.D.
Dr. Nessler received his orthopedic training at the Rochester Mayo Clinic. He has a specialty practice in muscle-sparing hip and knee joint replacement as well as revisions. Dr. Nessler joined St Cloud Orthopedics in 1991, and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons as well as American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. Nessler is a consultant for Stryker Orthopedics, a world wide leader in orthopedic implants. Currently, he consults in the development of new surgical technique and clinical testing of new implant designs. Dr. Nessler has developed a muscle-sparing dual incision hip replacement technique in conjunction with Stryker. In July, 2004 computer assisted navigation was incorporated into his hip surgeries. Navigation in knee surgeries began in January 2005. Navigation allows for the most accurate component placements and is particularly helpful in minimally invasive (MIS) surgery.
Kim Schaap, M.D.
Dr. Schaap received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. After a residency with the University of Minnesota’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, she joined our clinic in August of 1999.
Dr. Schaap has a special interest in sports medicine, including arthroscopic knee and shoulder procedures, as well as minimally invasive joint replacements.
Joel Shobe, M.D.
Dr. Shobe received his training at Northwestern University Medical School, the Medical College of Wisconsin, Kansas University Medical Center, and Buffalo General Hospital. He joined our group in 1997. He practices general orthopedics and specializes in cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal surgery for adult and pediatric patients.
Kristen Sigurdson, D.P.M.
Dr. Sigurdson received her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. She joined the practice in 2009 and is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Andrew Staiger, M.D.
Dr. Staiger started with St. Cloud Orthopedic Associates, Ltd. on August 21, 2000. He graduated from the University of Minnesota. After completing his orthopedic surgery residency, he went on to complete his Orthopedic Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis MN.
Christopher Widstrom, M.D.
Dr. Widstrom completed his training in orthopedic surgery at the University of Hawaii and his Hand/Microvascular Surgery Fellowship at the Tampa General Hospital before joining the clinic in 1993.
