GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Responsible for assisting in patient diagnosis and treatment by performing radiological examinations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Takes x-rays of patients in accordance with physician requests and established professional and clinic protocols. Maintains high level of quality and accuracy to minimize retakes.
  • Has the ability to use DR and PACS systems.
  • Receives and sends x-rays from other clinics or departments for exams, surgeries and referrals. Documents locations of films and investigates those not returned in a timely manner.
  • Assists patients in feeling comfortable during exam and provides them with a high quality of care.
  • Complies with clinic policies and procedures on regular work attendance.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Assigns charge codes to x-rays to ensure accurate billing of procedures.
  • Accurately uses all computer programs essential to order entry and patient documentation.
  • Completes a variety of paperwork and forms for exams and delivery of films to other locations.
  • Proper use of all equipment. Requests maintenance as necessary.
  • Assists other clinic departments with duties as needed, when available. Routes patients to exam rooms.
  • Works cooperatively with all clinic and department personnel in order to complete a high volume of exams.

EDUCATION

Successful completion of accredited radiological technology program.

EXPERIENCE

At least one year experience as Radiological Technologist preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of x-ray procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform x-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
  • Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices, as well to research unfamiliar requests.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and patients.
  • Ability to complete paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Skills in applying customer service principles when dealing with patient, in order to create as pleasant an experience for the patient as possible.
  • Skills in taking quality films and critiquing results for maximum physician satisfaction.
  • Skills in prioritizing work load and working cooperatively with co-workers in order to complete a large volume of exams on a regular basis.

REQUIREMENTS

Certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, CPR Certificate

EQUIPMENT

Computer, printer, multi-line telephone, copier, fax, x-ray equipment, radiation detection badge, lead apron.

Guidance of the Radiology Lead Technologist
