Dr. Geiser Retires from St. Cloud Orthopedics

Dr Geiser

Dr. Geiser has practiced general orthopedics with a variety of interests, especially joint replacement, spine, and pediatrics, since joining the clinic in 1978. He has been a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery since that time.

Dr. Geiser received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in 1969. He recalls his first experience in orthopedic surgery as a medical student in 1967 when he “scrubbed” for a hip fracture while on a surgical rotation at St. Paul Ramsey General Hospital.

After medical school, he spent a year as an intern at San Joaquin General in Stockton, California followed by a year as a general surgery resident at Hennepin County General Hospital in Minneapolis. Then, after spending the next few months as radiology resident at the University of Minnesota, he entered active duty in the US Army to fulfill his draft obligation during the Vietnam War.

After completing his draft obligation at Fort Belvoir near Washington DC, he completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver and the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. A year later, after spending a year as Chief of Orthopedics at Womack Amy Hospital in Fort Bragg NC, he joined St. Cloud Orthopedic Associates in the summer of 1978, where he has spent the rest of his professional career.
