Ashley Botterill, M.D., C.C.D.
Dr. Botterill specializes in non-operative general orthopedic care. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia, completed her Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of North Carolina, and a Fellowship in Interventional Spine and Sports at the Orthopedic Clinic Association in Phoenix. Dr. Botterill joined St. Cloud Orthopedics in January 2019.
Eric W. Green, M.D.
Dr. Green completed his residency at Michigan State University in Kalamazoo. He has a practice in general orthopedics with specialty interest in Sports Medicine and Surgery of the Knee and Shoulder. Dr. Green joined the clinic in 1991 and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is the only surgeon outside of the Twin Cities offering his patients ConforMIS custom knee implants.
Timothy G. Hiesterman, D.O., F.A.O.A.O.
Dr. Hiesterman received his medical degree from the Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ, and then went on to complete an Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship at Regions Hospital/University of Minnesota, St. Paul, MN. He joined our group in 2011.
Chad A. Holien, M.D.
Dr. Holien received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD and received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Holien joined our clinic in the summer of 2002 and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Holien is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Kevin S. Holton, D.P.M.
Dr. Holton received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine. He joined the practice in 1994 and is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association.
Kristi L. Hultman, M.D., PhD
Dr. Hultman is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic sports surgeon with experience treating shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, shoulder replacement, UCL tears of the elbow, hip pathology, ACL tears, multi-ligament knee injuries, meniscal pathology, cartilage restoration, patellofemoral instability, as well as general orthopaedic injuries. She will be joining St. Cloud Orthopedics in September 2019.
Matthew R. Hwang, M.D.
Dr. Hwang joined our clinic in the summer of 2002 and is a member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine. Dr. Hwang has specialized training in the evaluation and arthroscopic treatment of knee, shoulder, elbow, and ankle disorders. He has a special interest in total shoulder and reverse shoulder replacement surgeries.
Mitchell D. Kuhl, D.O.
Dr. Kuhl completed his undergraduate degree at Washington University, St. Louis, MO and his medical degree from Des Moines University – Osteopathic Medical Center. He also continued on with his residency training at Ohio University – St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH and completed a Trauma Fellowship at Orthopaedics Indianapolis – Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. He joined our group in 2007.
Stephen A. Mariash, D.P.M.
Dr. Mariash received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his residency in surgical reconstruction of the foot and ankle in 1991. He joined the practice in 1998 and is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Kevin M. McCann, D.P.M.
Dr. McCann received his doctor of podiatric medicine from Des Moines University and completed his residency at the Franciscan Foot and Ankle Institute in Federal Way, WA. He joined our clinic in 2012 and he is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association.
Trevor C. McIver, M.D., M.S.
Dr. McIver, who specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, received his undergraduate degree from the University of California Riverside. He then attended Georgetown University where he received his master’s and medical degrees. He has completed sponsored and non-sponsored research on various spine-related orthopedic treatment techniques. Dr. McIver joined our Spine Center staff in 2015.
Paul J. Meirick, M.D.
As a non-operative sports medicine physician, Dr. Meirick treats patients without the use of surgery. He specializes in caring for patients with acute sports or activity-related injuries (sprains, strains, and fractures) as well as chronic medical conditions (joint pain and arthritis). He will be joining St. Cloud Orthopedics in August 2019.
Steven M. Mulawka, M.D.
Dr. Mulawka’s orthopedic practice deals with sports medicine and he specializes in all knee and shoulder problems. Dr. Mulawka is a knee expert having completed over 5,000 total knee replacement surgeries. He is also a leader in minimally invasive knee replacement. Dr. Mulawka has been in practice at St. Cloud Orthopedics/Orthopedic Sports Center since 1985 and is board certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is currently only seeing patients in Paynesville.
Andrew A. Mulder, M.D.
Dr. Mulder is a board-certified hip and knee surgeon specializing in primary and complex revision hip and knee replacement surgery. Understanding that each patient is unique, Dr. Mulder uses a personalized approach to hip and knee replacement surgery utilizing minimally-invasive muscle-sparing techniques, computer navigation, and robotic assistance when appropriate. He joined St. Cloud Orthopedics in 2013.
Michael A. Murphy, M.D.
Dr. Murphy has clinical expertise in arthroscopic knee, shoulder, and hip surgery, and has a special interest in knee and shoulder replacement. He is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine, and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Joseph P. Nessler, M.D.
Dr. Nessler received his orthopedic training at the Rochester Mayo Clinic. He has a specialty practice in muscle-sparing hip and knee joint replacement as well as revisions. Dr. Nessler joined St Cloud Orthopedics in 1991, and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons as well as American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. Nessler is a consultant for Stryker Orthopedics, a worldwide leader in orthopedic implants.
Kim S. Schaap, M.D.
Dr. Schaap received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. After a residency with the University of Minnesota’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, she joined our clinic in 1999. Dr. Schaap has a special interest in sports medicine, including arthroscopic knee and shoulder procedures, as well as minimally invasive joint replacements. She is also experienced in robotically assisted joint replacement.
Joel C. Shobe, M.D.
Dr. Shobe received his training at Northwestern University Medical School, the Medical College of Wisconsin, Kansas University Medical Center, and Buffalo General Hospital. He joined our group in 1997. He practices general orthopedics and specializes in cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal surgery for adult and pediatric patients.
Kristen M. Sigurdson, D.P.M.
Dr. Sigurdson received her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. She joined the practice in 2009 and is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Andrew W. Staiger, M.D.
Dr. Staiger specializes in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery. He is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and also holds a Subspecialty Certificate in Orthopedic Hand Surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He completed his fellowship in Hand Surgery in 2000 at the University of Minnesota, at which time he joined St. Cloud Orthopedics.
Christopher J. Widstrom, M.D.
Dr. Widstrom completed his training in orthopedic surgery at the University of Hawaii and his Hand/Microvascular Surgery Fellowship at the Tampa General Hospital before joining the clinic in 1993.
Wendy Arnold, ST
Wendy graduated with a Surgical Technician Degree from St. Cloud Technical College. She joined St. Cloud Orthopedics in 1997 and works primarily with Dr. Widstrom.
Andrea Bobis, PA-C
Andrea received her biology degree from Montana State University-Northern before earning her Physician Assistant Studies degree from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana. She has been with St. Cloud Orthopedics since 2003 and works closely with Dr. Hwang.
Stefani Burandt, MSPA, PA-C
Stefani received her MSPA and PA-C degrees from Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. She joined St. Cloud Orthopedics in 2016 and works closely with Dr. Shobe.
Larry Claassen, Orthopedic Tech
Larry is certified as an Orthopedic Technologist by the National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists. He joined St. Cloud Orthopedics in 1995 and works closely with Dr. Schaap.
Joseph Fortier, PA-C
Joe received his Masters of Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. He joined St. Cloud Orthopedics in August of 2018 and works with all of our physicians.
Adam Frear, PA-C
Adam received his Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA. Prior to that, he graduated from Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, PA, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Physician Assistant Studies. Adam works closely with Dr. McIver.
Erik Hanson, PA-C, MPAS
Erik attended PA school at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, IA, from 2004-2006 where he received his Master of Physician Assistant Studies Degree. Erik joined our staff at St. Cloud Orthopedics in 2006 and works primarily with Dr. Nessler.
Physical Therapy Staff:
Tom Jensen, PT/ATC
Tom Jensen is the Director/Supervisor of our Orthopedic Sports Center and Occupational Therapy. He is a physical therapist and athletic trainer. TJ has been with St. Cloud Orthopedics since 1980, and has specialized in orthopedic/sports physical therapy for over 30 years.
Ross Blomme, MS, ATC
Ross is a graduate of Minnesota State Mankato with a B.S. in Athletic Training. He also has an M.S. in Exercise and Sports Medicine from Western Michigan University. He has been with the Orthopedic Sports Center since 2011.
Amy Burgess, ATC
Amy graduated from West Virginia University in 2014 with a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training after receiving her Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2011. She joined St. Cloud Orthopedics in mid-2017.
Ong Christle, PTA
Ong is a graduate of Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids, MN with her Physical Therapist Assistant degree and an alumni of St Cloud State University. She has been with the Orthopedic Sports Center since 2015.
Julie Deyak, ATC, MS
Julie is a graduate of St. Cloud State University where she received both her undergraduate and master’s degree in Exercise Science. She returned to the Orthopedic Sports Center in 2019.
Emily Jung, PTA
Emily is a graduate of Clarkson College in Omaha, NE with her Physical Therapist Assistant degree. She has been with the Orthopedic Sports Center since 2015.
Brian Kampa, DPT/ATC
Brian graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2013. He received his undergraduate degree in Athletic Training from St. Cloud State University in 2010, where he was a member of the football team. Brian has been with the Orthopedic Sports Center since 2013.
Eric Kohn, DPT, OSC, CSCS, CCCE
Eric is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He is the Center Coordinator for Clinical Education and is an APTA credentialed clinical instructor. Eric is a professor at CSB/SJU teaching Sports Medicine, and has been with the Orthopedic Sports Center since 1999.
Occupational Therapy Staff:
Teresa Bunn, OTR/L, CHT
Teresa graduated from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, with a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy. She has been employed in the Occupational Therapy Department at St. Cloud Orthopedics since 2017.
Peter Krump, OTR/L, CHT
Peter is a graduate of the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, with a degree in Occupational Therapy. He is also a Certified Hand Therapist through the Hand Therapy Certification Commission, Inc. Peter has been employed in the Occupational Therapy Department at St. Cloud Orthopedics since 2008.
Elizabeth Locnikar, OTR, ATC, CHT
Elizabeth is a graduate of the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND with a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy and a Bachelor Degree in Athletic Training. She has been with St. Cloud Orthopedics since 2008.
Izaak Schafer, OTR/L, CHT
Izaak is a graduate of the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, where he earned his Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from the University of North Dakota. Izaak has been employed in the Occupational Therapy Department at St. Cloud Orthopedics since 2016.
