Spring is a time to get outside, tend to your garden, clean, and exercise. That also means a lot of bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and other movements that put pressure on your joints. Here are some tips to prevent and alleviate pain — your joints will thank you!
Stretch Regularly
Stretching your muscles and joints during and after activity keeps them limber and with more range of motion.
Stay Hydrated
Keeping up your water intake will ensure your joints are well lubricated and less prone to injury.
Use Kneepads
Kneepads are crucial when kneeling for any reason, including working in the garden. Get ones that you can strap to your legs or set on the ground.
Lift Carefully
Ensure that the objects you are lifting are within your capacity. Don’t attempt to lift anything that feels too heavy. When you do lift objects, make sure to lift with your legs and not your back to avoid pain and injury.
Take Breaks
Repetitive motion can cause joints to become sore. Taking breaks will allow your joints to recover so you can keep going.
