Rainy Day Ideas for Staying Active This Spring

While everyone wants to be outside now that the weather is finally warming up, there will certainly be those days where it’s rainy, gloomy, and maybe even too cold or too hot to be outside. However, there are still plenty of ways to stay active indoors. One of the first places that comes to mind for us is the new St. Cloud Orthopedics Kidzone at the Sartell Community Center. It’s basically an indoor playground where younger kids can climb, slide, and burn some energy. Check out our quick list below for more “rainy day” ideas that don’t involve sitting on the couch (sorry Netflix).

1) Open Gym. Check your local schools and community centers for open gym, or open track, where you can make use of the facilities and get your steps in.

2) Fitness Centers. Many fitness facilities offer a day pass or a free trial day. Plan to test one out the next time you’re stuck inside. You might even find a group exercise class that you’ll want to stick with.

3) Library. Walk around, bend down, reach up, and collect a few good heavy books to leaf through while you’re there. Bonus points if the books are about health, fitness, and outdoor adventuring.

4) Museums. Anywhere you can go that lets you keep moving—even at a slow pace— is great for both your mind and body!
