Knee & Shoulder

header knee shoulder

Pain, stiffness, or swelling of the knee and shoulder can be an indication of something wrong below the surface of the joint. Our highly-trained specialists who staff our Knee and Shoulder Center are experienced at identifying specific issues before determining the best treatment options for your particular condition.

Many of the knee and shoulder problems we see include complex sports related injuries, trauma, fractures, arthritis, and tendon or nerve injuries. No matter the issue, our providers will be able to recommend the treatment that’s best for you, so that you can heal and recover properly.

Understanding Knee Problems

Common symptoms for the following knee conditions include pain, giving way, locking, or swelling. At St. Cloud Orthopedics, we routinely treat the following:

  • ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tears
  • Bursitis
  • Cartilage lesions
  • Hyper extended knee
  • Iliotibial band syndrome
  • Infection
  • Kneecap (patella) problems
  • Ligament injuries
  • Meniscus injuries
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Tendon injuries

Understanding Shoulder Problems

The most common shoulder problems are usually related to the rotator cuff, including instability, arthritis, or stiffness. Symptoms can involve pain, weakness, popping or clicking, stiffness, or looseness, and should be examined by our team. Shoulder problems we routinely see include:

  • AC joint pathology
  • Bicep tendonitis
  • Dislocations
  • Impingement/tendonitis
  • Labral injuries
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rotator cuff tears

Surgery and Other Treatment Options

There are many instances where knee and shoulder problems can be treated by our clinic without the use of surgery. However, if surgery becomes a valid treatment option, our surgeons will help you understand how a procedure is done and why it’s recommended. We’ll also guide you through the rehabilitation process so you’ll know what to expect as you recover. Our knee and shoulder experts have extensive experience with the following procedures:

Knee:

  • ACL reconstruction
  • Cartilage transplant
  • Meniscal repair
  • Total and partial knee replacement

Shoulder:

  • Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair
  • Arthroscopic labral repair
  • Total and partial shoulder replacement
  • Shoulder stabilization

We’ll work with you to develop a personal treatment plan and establish goals to meet your therapeutic needs. Our goal is to help you get back to your normal lifestyle as safely and quickly as possible.

Please contact our clinic with any questions about knee and shoulder issues—we’ll be happy to help!
